Changing Tides
by
What this is all leading up to is to tell you what you’re about to get into. This tale is about the second prohibition called the 70’s and 80’s. It would be presumptuous of me to even suggest that this novel is like the excess of the great Gatsby era. It’s about the evolution of ones soul, mainly mine, Frank Solomon. It’s also about the people I knew who lived on and off this island and their roles in my life. This is the story of a world not many people have a chance to glimpse inside. This isn’t a story not like you see in the movies with high rollers and lots of cash. It’s about real people and how it really was back then. It’s about our perceptions of ourselves, and the freedom to live like we thought we should. It’s also how drugs evolved and how it affected my generation and the generation after and how it influenced all our lives.
After all of this you will know me or think you know me and wonder how I lived through those times. How we once lived in this perfectly wonderful, insane place. Those who lived it with me will say it was the best of times, and the most free of times.
They say history repeats itself; this period of history will probably never happen again, at least not in my lifetime. If you were born in that time you’ll understand this story, if not? Then you will, at least, live it vicariously through me.
