We at Catawba Publishing realize that different people have different needs. Some people are comfortable with the publishing process and others may need a little more help. To accommodate our customers, Catawba Publishing created three easy-to-use programs:

Publishing Partners

Every small publishing company or prolific author needs cost effective and dependable service. By offering volume discounts, direct order fulfillment and shipping services, Catawba gives you the tools to take care of your customers.

"My Book" Program

"My Book" is our user-friendly program designed to help authors go from manuscript to finished book. It's a simple process: prepare your manuscript, select an interior and cover style you like, choose any additional options you want and send us your manuscript. We do the rest.

Templates aren't for everyone though. If you're looking for something extra special, we also provide full custom layouts and design services.

Direct-to-Print

Not everyone needs a helping hand to create their book. Direct-to-print is perfect for customers who design their own books.

Print What You Need

With print runs from 10 to 3,000 or more, Catawba Publishing encourages our authors and publishers to print only as many books as they actually need.

Pricing

My Book Basic - $395
Authors may choose from a selection of classic layout styles and cover templates. Selecting our My Book Basic package allows authors to create a professional look while saving money. ISBN included. With three standard sizes and 17 templates to choose from, authors select the style that suits their vision.

My Book Plus - $620
Create a custom look by modifying our design templates to your taste. Create a custom cover. Authors can adjust their template by selecting custom headers, footers and page number placements. Personalize your book by adding header and footer icons. Control paragraph starts, indents, drop caps and line rules to give your book a custom look at an affordable price. ISBN included.

My Book Custom - $1400 Authors with greater needs or advanced layouts are assigned a custom design consultant who designs a custom book format just for them. Includes up to 35 images/charts, custom book sizes, unlimited e-proofs, illustrations, cover designs and ISBN. The ultimate in service, authors have ultimate control of the creative process.

Binding Options

We provide four types of binding:

Lamination Options

Our standard cover lamination is gloss, resulting in a heavy, shiny protective coating.

We also offer matte lamination for an extra charge. Matte lamination has a flat, non-glossy appearance, but still provides the same protection as gloss lamination. Many books use this kind of coating to give a more artistic or "high-end" look to their covers.

Corrections

Please make sure your manuscript is fully proofread and edited before the manuscript is submitted.

Any corrections to spelling or editing after initial layout of the book will be subject to charges, as outlined below:

Corrections Package: $35 plus $0.50 per instance
Correction of author-created errors is limited to spelling and punctuation. Corrections should be made to the proof copy and returned to Catawba Publishing for revision. Authors will receive a second proof when corrections are complete.

Corrections Fee: $2 per instance
A cost-effective solution when only a small number of corrections need to be made.

Alterations Package: $45 plus $.05 per word
The alteration package includes major changes to text and the addition of new material, for example, adding a chapter or replacing a section. We request that any major changes and new sections be provided in electronic format.

More extensive corrections will be billed at a rate of $55 per hour.

ISBN: $50

The cost of a unique ISBN is included in the cost of each My Book package, with the exception of the My Book Direct-to-Print. Catawba Publishing assigns each book an ISBN and registers the title with Books In Print to make it available worldwide. Authors may use their own ISBN if they have purchased one from R.R. Bowker. An ISBN is not transferable; if you wish to have your book produced by a third party you must purchase your own ISBN directly from R.R. Bowker.

Proofs

E-Proof: An e-proof is a PDF provided at no cost for a new My Book, Direct-to-Print book or a file resubmission. An e-proof is used to show accuracy of content and placement only.

Spiral proof: A spiral proof is included in the cost of a My Book. Direct-to-Print customers may purchase a spiral proof at the same price as the cost of their book. A spiral proof is a spiral bound copy of the book on 8.5x11 paper which includes crop marks to show the page size and includes a printed, flat version of the book cover. A spiral proof is accurate for content, placement, size and color.

Finished proof: $25 per proof. A finished proof will show you exactly what your book will look like when completed. It is accurate for content, placement, size, color, trim, etc.

Chapter Endnotes: $100

Convert files to PDF: $25

Layout and typesetting technical support: $25 for 1/2 hour

Sending revised PDF files for Direct-to-Print orders: $25 each new set of files

Cancelled orders: $100 plus any other options chosen

Marketing Packages

Marketing materials will include a copy of the book cover, author contact information and details where to order your book. Sell sheets and posters will include the text from the back cover of your book and any reviews you submit. All marketing packages are subject to a $55 setup fee.
